Regional Archive


It is the center which houses the documents generated by the government and the administration of the Community of Madrid, as well as its predecessor’s institutions, which are in the stages of intermediate file and archive.


They can enter the Regional Archive historical funds those municipalities that request. Regional File with Leguina Joaquin Regional Library, are located in the old brewery "The Eagle" in Arganzuela district of Madrid. The building was constructed between 1912 and 1914 according to plans by architect Eugenio Jiménez Corera and extended later by Luis Sainz de los Terreros. Currently houses the library and also the Regional Archive Madrid.


In 1994, the Community of Madrid began proceedings to recover the complex, announcing public a design competition in which they won the architects Emilio Tuñón Alvarez and Luis Moreno Mansilla. The 10th December 2002 Regional Library opened. A few months
 later, on April 28, 2003, it opened the file. Both institutions are dependent of the Ministry of the Arts. The library was given the name "Joaquin Leguina" in memory of the first president who had the autonomous community of Madrid.
