Jose María García de Paredes (1924-1990)

Renowned architect especially for its large auditoriums projects in Spain because of his marriage to Maria Isabel de Falla (daughter of composer Manuel de Falla) who provided contacts. At his death, his daughter, Angela García de Paredes, took over the studio with Ignacio García Pedrosa.

The project was conditioned by the presence of the highway and the prior creation of a nursery area. The church program would be to host the own church, the rectory and secure binding porch under a power line next, which is delimited by a space with pine trees and open cloister.

The solution to the space problem was solved with the maximum simplification of the assembly and the result was a neutral space that responds to an economic approach according to each circumstance, which integrate narthex, baptistery, penitential chapel presbytery and by building elements autonomous modular subdivide the space into a grid defined isotropic slender steel columns, for a forest of slender columns, holding and unloading a light covering tapered elements illuminated zenith. The basic autonomous cell form the enclosure repeated juxtaposition of 51 modules, and allows you to build or expand in future phases of any size churches.
