Las Letras Tour
Also called the Literati. Located in
the southern part of the district of the district courts in the
center of Madrid. It owes its name to the intense literary activity
developed over the centuries XVI and XVII. In this area they
settled some of the most prominent writers of the Spanish Golden
Age, as Lope de Vega, Quevedo and Gongora, and it's theaters were
located and Prince Cross, two of the major comedy theaters of that
time. In the Calle de Atocha, one of the ways that limit the
neighborhood, was the press of Juan Cuesta, where he became the
first edition of the first part of Don Quixote of La Mancha (1604),
is considered the masterpiece of s Spanish
literature.
